Midnight Dash

So I've been playing Minecraft a bit. I've only been able to play it for short periods of time so I haven't built much yet or found anything more than iron. I do mess around though like do a midnight run between safe houses. I rarely make it though haha.

This is the skin I created for my minecraft character. It's based on a character of mine, 'Dash Dashing' (who I forgot how to draw when I was drawing this comic haha)

Minecraft is great fun and I really recommend  trying it out at least once.

Well I was meant to do a write up review of playing LA noire today (sorry) but my work is taking over my free time and that was looking like it was going to be a big comic.

I'm wanting to put my focus into a few of my own projects as well as getting ontop of my work. So for now I'm putting the comics on a 'when I'm free' update basis.

I finished L.A. Noire just yesterday. Next week on Friday I will do a comic special review of LA Noire. I'm going to spend a few days putting together all my thoughts about Noire. I might have to change my comic format to fit it all in hmmm hmmmmm

I hope I get better at drawing these guys or they are going to be written out.

I'm working like crazy at the moment trying to get ontop of things. I'm starting to get a little ahead but all I need is to have something take a day longer and I'm screwed again. I hope to get a few of these comics out of the way tomorrow to give me some breathing room.

Speaking of comics. I just read this X-men crossover
















It was quite an exciting read. I think some of the best X-men comics are when they are struggling to get a foothold, this was one of those moments. Also the art was diverse and at a pretty high level.

Jam Filled 05: Captains Log

Any good tv show needs a comedy duo. The comedy act of Picard and Riker back in the next gen series was a favourite.

So last weekend I made a film in 48 hours. It's sort of a failed attempt at two competitions that were on bu there's some stuff in it I like. I'll be doing a blog post on my art blog with more details after I post this comic page.



Ok these guys are going to be back on Wednesday and I'm going to be working like crazy to make up for not working today.

Jam Filled 04: Almost a man

The idea of this still makes me giggle. His face is based on an actor but it will be probably be impossible to guess who it is (or is it?). I might bring who it is into the story so I won't mention who unless someone guesses (which I doubt (or is it...wait what?))

I'm back playing LA Noire again and I seem to have been promoted for shooting people again. I'm pretty sure I killed the psycho killer by shooting him constantly in the leg "ARGH MY ONE WEAKNESS".

Oh and I finished inFamous last weekend. That was GREAT! Great gameplay and pulpy comic story with interesting characters that I cared about. When I'm not doing 2 animation jobs at the same time I might pick up the sequel since inFamous 1 ended on such a cliffhanger.

These monsters are fun to draw. That red guy looks a bit like Knuckles from the misadventures of Captain Flapjack. I love that cartoon series! I really recommend it
















Roseline preferred the black and white version of this comic. I think it's cool just that middle frame is a bit muddled.

Jam Filled 02: The found body

Just in case it isn't clear, the carrot cop has fired a messenger bird out of his mouth. I've been watching a lot of Naruto and crazy stuff happens like this all the time. In the first few seasons they explained everything (sometimes over 2-4 episodes) these days less so and that's pretty funny to me. You can watch Naruto eps for free on http://www.crunchyroll.com/ I usually watch them on my ipad since you only get a little add at the start of each episode.

I bid farewell to my old phone of 10+ years and say hello to my new phone, a Sony Xperia Play. The iPhone didn't really do it for me. I have an iPad that I love but the iPhone... it's just too small for me. This kid though with its fold out game controller and backing of Sony. Forget about it.. It totally won me over

L.A. inFAMOUS! 2 guys named Cole

I just realised that the main characters in both L.A. Noire and inFamous are called Cole (Cole Phelps and Cole Macgath) and since inFamous Cole turn up in the last comic I've decided to run with this gag.

I've been hooked playing inFamous! I've really been enjoying it.... well until the trash spiders. Those guys suck and are not fun, everything else is cool but not those spiders.

I really like the character Zeke. He has some great well delivered lines (credit to the voice actor.) He could have quite easily been terrible as the jokey comic relief sidekick but they did a good job with him. Something else that borders on either being good or bad is the character animation during cutscenes. They are animated in this straight, poppy, pose to pose with barely any inbetweens (almost just the animation blocking) and sometimes that is quite funny (like the first guy you meet in the sewer). This may be only funny to an animator though :P. L.A. Noire is the complete opposite with it's focus on creating a super real experience (I'll get into my feelings of that at some point).

Oh the game glich craziness of the NPC's every now and then has me in stitches. I saw one lady try to sit on a bench and then just rocket up in the air and land across the road for no reason haha! Good times.

It's also pretty cool the scripted dialogue the npc's have. They spend the whole time telling me how great I am, unlike L.A. Noire where they keep asking me, "what are you drunk?" "SERIOUSLY I'M NOT DRUNK I JUST DRIVE AND WALK BAD OK!!"

L.A. INFAMOUS!

So due to Sony being hacked they apologised by giving people with psn accounts some free games. One of these games was inFamous and it is really good! I'm having a lot of fun playing it and there's even a sequel that just came out that is definitely on my to get list.

Well short and sweet today since I'm running late and have to go out.

I saw this trailer this week and it really pissed me off at just how STUPID the person was selling this game. There's some interesting stuff that happens after these two scenes BUT WHY WOULD A DEVELOPER START SELLING HIS GAME LIKE THIS!!!



But look at the youtube comments and various game sites no one seems  to mind that he begins by beating up women, (Topless robot mentioned it) and homeless people. So maybe it's not that stupid, maybe there's a market for this. I can't wait to see it's section in EB Games, 'Women and Homeless beating'

This effin game has really pissed me off about videogames, I'd like to go out and see a movie but Transformers is pissing me off about movies....arghhh!

Hopefully I'll be inspired to do a new comic for Friday

L.A. Noire - It'd take a smarter man than me to connect this

After a weeks break we're back with L.A. Noire! This is pretty much what clue finding is like. Hear a chime and then walk around in circles pushing 'X' until you pick something up. There's a lot of useless bottles and cigarettes to look at. This hardly feels like real detective work and the camera angles never really feel like you are looking for stuff. This aspect of the game was handled better in 'Heavy Rain' or even 'Phoenix Wright' .

The clue finding music is a nice touch. (It will play until all the clues are found). The chime and the controller rumble when you are near a clue seems a little too helpful. Maybe you can turn that help off but like I said the camera angles don't really help so that wouldn't be all that fun.

Oh looking over dead bodies for clues is a completely different story. That is done really well. Also when you pick up a newspaper and get those news paper cutscenes that is super great. That main psychiatrist is fantastic.

Well see you Wednesday for some interrogation DOUBT!... I mean TRUTH!

Going out for burgers

Both Roseline and I had a day off from work today. It wasn't an intended full day off but it turned out to be one (such is the life of freelancing). This is probably the least interesting part of our day but when we've been stuck home for nearly 2 weeks in front of a computer animating this seems like a wonderful holiday.

The more interesting part of this story is for Roseline to tell. Hopefully she'll find some time to do up a blog post (maybe a comic... who knows)

I'm going to try and go to Supanova tomorrow. I haven't been before but it sounds like something worth checking out.

Still Game of thrones?

Sorry still no comic update but here's some pencil sketches of the Lannisters from Game of Thrones, overlayed on a google image search paper texture to make it look... you know cool... for the kids.

*sigh* work has forced me into cheap photoshop tricks (I was tempted to add in a lensflare) this week. The Noire pages I want to do properly and not rush them so that's why I'm holding back on that. Hopefully it will be worth it.

Now about Game of Thrones. I didn't realise that was the last ep of this series! I'm devastated that I'll have to wait a year to see what happens. I hope more money is pumped into the show for the second season so they don't have to edit around the battles. I did feel this season was what most shows do with their pilot episode (introduce the characters, the setting and the story), but there were a bunch of great moments.

Ok we'll see what friday brings...

This has been my reaction to the last few 'Game of Thrones' episodes. I effin love this series! I sure hope that Joffery kid gets some comeuppance.
